Brook Road

Overview

Brook Road began as a HUTS development project. We purchased the land, developed a plan for what the lot could support, and then our client’s vision largely aligned with our initial design, which will help streamline the build.
The first phase of construction will include the driveway and utilities, plus an ADU and a sauna. The second phase will add the main home. The three structures all require unique foundation design to make them work on the natural slope of the land.

Built to Highlight the Endless Views

The home is situated to take full advantage of the sprawling views, with one end shooting out from the slope like a pier to elevate you as you look out over the serene landscape. The primary view to the left is highlighted with floor-to-ceiling picture windows and large glass doors.

Designed for Indoor-Outdoor Living

A second-story deck on the left side of the home provides the ideal space to get out into nature and take in the picturesque surroundings. It also creates a more protected outdoor area underneath for getting outside even in inclement weather.

Linear Layout

The linear design creates the opportunity for privacy and gathering in parts of the home that feel truly separated. It also helps build some anticipation as you walk from the front to the rear while the landscape slowly comes into view.

Focus On the Views

The primary living area is situated at the rear of the home and offers the most appealing views. It sits above the surrounding trees for an unimpeded look of the valley and the trail network that loosely connects the main structure with the ADU and sauna down by the creek.

Partially Open Floor Plan

The kitchen, dining area, and main living areas flow seamlessly into one another to make hosting and gathering with friends and family as easy and relaxed as possible. Floor-to-ceiling windows and glass doors let in tons of natural light and make the space feel even more open.

Key Features

Features.jpg
01Built for the Views

Unlike with most projects, the main structure of Brook Road runs perpendicular to the slope. This creates a stunning effect as you walk through the home and see the views to the left and the right dropping away from the floor and spanning down into the valleys below.

02Outdoor Wellness Cluster

The property features a sauna situated right next to a natural creek to allow for deep relaxation while being immersed in nature. We plan to expand the edge of the creek to create a natural cold plunge beside the outdoor hot tub.

03Cantilevered Foundation

As you move from the front to the rear of the home, you go from a ground-floor entrance to an elevated foundation that hangs among the treetops. This provides spectacular views you’d never get from slab-on-grade, and it also leaves room for a basement area with less excavation.

Interiors

We went with a predominantly neutral color palette with light stone, elegant but restrained mill work, and some pops of natural greens. This creates a calm and inviting interior that’s thoughtful but understated enough to let the landscape take center stage throughout.
