The unique foundation design creates a partial basement for mechanicals and added living space while also providing a covered parking area without the need for a separate garage build. The result is a home that looks like it grew with the land and forms a symbiotic relationship with it.

Medicine Bow Road
Overview
Located in Aspen, Colorado, Medicine Bow Road is a testament to the idea that build costs in high-end markets don’t need to be outlandish.
This is a 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom hybrid home that takes advantage of the cascading landscape rather than fighting it. The cantilevered foundation reduces excavation and building costs, provides low-cost carport and basement spaces, and maximizes the impact of the mountain views.

As you move through the house, the ground naturally falls away from it. This creates a dramatic effect as you stand in the main living area, elevated above the ground, and look out at the impossibly open view of the descending mountains.

Interiors
The interior design of Medicine Bow Road is minimalistic and features white oak that brings the simplicity of the nature outside to the interior. We also used single-piece stone features on flooring accents and backsplashes that create a call-and-response to the quarry-like look of the land.
Massive, floor-to-ceiling windows capture maximum natural sunlight and provide unimpeded views of the sprawling mountains. The elevation at the rear of the home makes the space feel naturally secluded and still connected to nature.
