Overview

Standards are a collection of plans that put you in the editor's seat. Based on a 16’ grid, they work with much of the existing standardization of the American construction trade — minimizing waste and utilizing details that most any contractor could successfully execute.

Ease of Construction

We've simplified our details, wall assemblies and specifications. They've been reviewed by engineers, contractors and tested in the field, with ease of construction in mind. Our construction approach is meant to work for site-built construction or pre-fab and modular, where it makes sense.

Existing Standards

Our standards are designed with constructability in mind. The American construction trade has some existing patterns in place - 16" on center framing, 4'x8' sheets of plywood and drywall, regular 2' material increments. We don't work against those measurements, but instead work with them to minimize waste and increase the number of builders who can successfully deliver on HUTS projects, anywhere in the country.

Phased Construction

Many of our clients have big ambitions, but smaller budgets. Our design system was created with growth in mind. Tack on a bedroom addition when you're ready. Plug in a guest cottage when the time is right. We plan for a decade down the line and deliver for tomorrow's build.

Designed Flexibility

Our standards are designed to be modified, with relative ease. We can shift windows, lengths, widths and interior layouts without significantly editing the structural systems. We want your home to be yours, without losing the cost benefit of our product design efforts.
