Outdoor Spaces in Hospitality are IN

We’re adding 20 rooms to this existing motel in West Virginia, but a lot of the new value will come from how we place the buildings on the lot.
It would have been easy to treat the land between the old building and the new one as a service yard or even lay down another parking lot. Instead, we’re creating an outdoor gathering space that will become the real draw.

When the motel is booked with individual guests, it’s a relaxing place to unwind after a day spent hiking, skiing, or taking in the local scenery. When it’s booked for a big party, like a wedding, it’s a natural outdoor living area where all of the guests can connect.
We’re renovating the existing motel and effectively building a second, connected hotel that’s more geared toward flexibility for different guests, with connected rooms, suites, and more. In rural areas, where space is abundant, this strategy of renovating what’s there and building additional lodging is one we see becoming more and more popular. But the way we’re using the land between the two structures is what’s ultimately going to change this business forever.
