Pre-Solving the Problem With Rural Building

When HUTS offers Development Opportunities, which are pre-selected plots of rural land with all of the planning and construction logistics worked out from the get-go, it’s not just to simplify everything. It’s really a means of showing people what they’ll have to consider on any project.
We do occasionally find clients to develop the exact projects as defined in the Development Opportunities. But, more often, they function as explainers to prospective clients who want to build something similar and use the Development Opportunities to get familiar with the steps.

Limited site access, distant utility connections, land use restrictions, historic preservation mandates, a lack of affordable labor, well drilling, and perc tests. These are all foreign to most people, and they can make or break a project. Understanding how we would develop a piece of land can be just as valuable as being drawn to what we would develop.
And when a client understands all of the potential roadblocks, when they start seeing the thought process behind everything and understanding the language of the project, they’re much more likely to be just as happy with the finished home as they were with the original idea of it.
You may not want to build exactly what we spec out in one of these, but seeing what goes into one can help put your rural building project into perspective.
